We are so excited to announce that starting in March we will be offering a "Masters CrossFit Class" on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm and Sunday morning.
Coach Linda will be back to coach! She is excited and has a lot to say about it : )
Calling all "Classic" Crossfitters - and by that I mean all Crossfitters 40+, feeling 40+, or just looking to change it up from time to time.
For the past several months, I've been seeking out fitness in a variety of ways -- soccer, running, swimming, spinning, a few fitness classes here and there, but I've missed the community of the gym and the results of Crossfit. As I have considered resuming my 3-4 x/week WODs, my joints have offered resistance - my shoulders groaning at the though of kipping anything...my wrists whining at the relentless pounding (burpees), aching knees (box jumps), and of course...my bladder (sorry for the TMI) wincing at the thought of double-unders.
So I started thinking, how can I reap the benefits of Crossfit in a way that accommodates my 47 year old self, a body that is aging, a professional life that is more demanding of my time, and a commitment to my community (boards, etc.) -- also demanding more of my time.
The answer: A Masters Class (as in "Classic" not Masters Competition) A Crossfit class designed for the older athlete, but suitable for all athletes, that will emphasize mobility, stretching, core strength, while also being an intense enough workout to bring results (it will include strength!). Proposed time: Tuesday and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday morning (TBD).
Are there any athletes out there who want to explore this with me (you need not be 45!)? I will work Jess and Heather on programming, but I'd really like to know who is interested so we can talk about what we hope to accomplish (the class will be designed such that the coach can also participate - i.e. not a lot of complicated lifts...). This could meet the needs of people like me, others who crush WODs all week long and are looking for the occasional kindler, gentler experience or whatever. I have some thoughts, but if others are interested, I'd like to hear your thoughts, too. New territory for me and for CCCF -- not unique (other boxes do it...), but we can make it what we want it to be.
If you are interested, please let me, Jess, or Heather know -- my email is email@example.com - target start would be first week of March.
